“This sculpture depicts Dante – my dog – who is a central figure in my personal mythology. The contrast of geometric shapes and metal screw heads represents a fusion of contemporary art and traditional motifs, alluding to ancient cultures where dogs were seen as guardians of the underworld.
The sculpture is made of rustic, charred wood; the material itself evokes primal forces – burned, scarred, yet resilient – much like the myths that shape our inner worlds. Dante is also the guardian of my subconscious, traveling through cultures and minds.
This piece captures not only the physical form of the dog, but also expresses the emotional depth of our bond, evoking systems of belief and mythology.”

À PROPOS DE L'ARTISTE
Gabor M. Szoke, sculpteur et artiste contemporain de renommée internationale, est surtout connu pour ses sculptures monumentales d’animaux réalisées industriellement.
L’artiste est né en 1984 à Budapest, en Hongrie. Il a étudié à l’Académie hongroise des arts visuels et à l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera à Milan. Malgré son jeune âge, il compte plus de 100 œuvres réparties sur trois continents, qui sont devenues des éléments définissant et emblématiques de leur environnement. Ses œuvres se trouvent dans les places publiques et institutions les plus progressistes et mises en valeur, comme le Mercedes-Benz Stadium à Atlanta, devant le siège de CNN, ou au cœur de Moscou, ou dans la collection du Roi de Bahreïn. Il détient le record de la plus grande statue équine en Europe et de la plus grande sculpture avienne au monde. L’une de ses œuvres les plus célèbres est l’Atlanta Falcon, conçue pour le nouveau Mercedes-Benz Stadium à Atlanta, Géorgie, qui dépasse ce record avec une envergure de 72 pieds. Ses créations sont en acier inoxydable et en bronze.

Inspired by Dante's unwavering loyalty and guardian nature, this work celebrates the profound bond between dog and human. These smaller sculptures serve as miniature versions of the iconic studio dogs, emphasizing their significance in my artistic narrative. The piece not only captures the physical form of the dog but also expresses the emotional depth of our relationship, reminding the viewer of the ancient myths and the important role dogs have played throughout history.”
