The Aboriginal tribes have been making stone axes for centuries, the only way of dating is through expensive and complex investigation, but Ground-Edge Axes with a distinct polished, smooth cutting edge became more common across parts of Australia within the last 4,500 years.

This axe is Modern Era, having a metal nail present to secure the head, so estimate 100 - 150 years old. The stone head is greenstone, typically from Mount William, Victoria.
