Joan Miró - Campesino Catalán Con Guitarra / 1924

Offset Lithograph Campesino catalán con guitarra / 1924/ Joan Miró. Copyright @ Successió Miró / Madrid 2024 Published by Thyssen-Bornemisza Museo Nacional . A native of Barcelona, Joan Miró was a painter, sculptor, printmaker, and ceramicist. He was also one of the pioneers of what came to be known as Surrealism, specifically its more “childlike” and automatic strand. For Joan Miró, the subconscious was a vast playground, or a toy very much like those he had in his childhood. With very eclectic beginnings, the painter emerged alongside the avant-garde movements, and his early work showed strong influences from Fauvism, Cubism, and Expressionism, all with that distinctly naïve touch characteristic of his output. But in Paris, he discovered the power of the dreamlike and decided to do away with conventional painting methods. In his own words, he wanted to “kill them, murder them, or rape them.” In 1924, he signed the Surrealist Manifesto and incorporated automatic childlike forms and calligraphic signs into his work. His work became increasingly abstract, simpler, and more childlike. He also reduced his palette to primary colors and primary forms, a trend evident in his sculptures and ceramics as well. His art draws from childhood, but also from popular culture, so there is a great deal of symbolism (the bird, the stars, the female figure…) that reflects his naive, joyful, and impetuous vision of the world. A great collector's item. The poster measures 66 x 98 cm. All posters have been selected by art lovers for art lovers. The poster will be shipped in a rigid cardboard tube. This item is shipped certified with a tracking number and carefully protected.
