Jochen Scheithauer (1948) - vertikal diagonal horizontal (from the portfolio for MKK Ingolstadt)

Jochen Scheithauer: horizontal – diagonal – vertikal, (1991) Original silkscreen on paper, one sheet from the concrete-art portfolio horizontal – diagonal – vertikal, a collaborative homage by nine concrete artists. The portfolio was published by Edition Partanen (Schluchsee) and printed by the artist Jo Niemeyer. It was issued on the occasion of the departure from office of Dr Siegfried Hofmann, long-standing cultural commissioner and patron of the Museum für Konkrete Kunst Ingolstadt, with a foreword by Peter Volkwein. The contributing artists are Rupprecht Geiger, Eugen Gomringer, Heinz Gruchot, Josef Linschinger, Ben Muthofer, Jo Niemeyer, Jochen Scheithauer, Peter Staechelin and H. W. Twardzik. Edition of 90, hand-signed in pencil by the artist. Sheet 40 × 40 cm. In mint condition. Comes unframed; a matching frame is available on request (€65). Jochen Scheithauer (b. 1948, Kassel) works within the reductive, constructive wing of German concrete art across painting, relief, sculpture and large-scale work in public space. Trained first as a stonemason, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and at the Gesamthochschule Kassel — a background that shows in the material, three-dimensional bent of much of his work, from wall objects and reliefs to room installations and architectural commissions. He has long been active in the Munich constructive scene, including the Berufsverband Bildender Künstler and the Galerie der Künstler, and has shown in the leading forums of the field, among them the Forum Konkrete Kunst in Erfurt, Europa Konkret, and the Museum Modern Art in Hünfeld. His work was presented at the Kunstverein and at the Museum für Konkrete Kunst in Ingolstadt — the institution to which this portfolio is dedicated. Technique: Original silkscreen on paper Edition: Edition of 90, hand-signed in pencil Signature: Hand-signed in pencil by the artist Dimensions: 40 × 40 cm (sheet) Condition: Mint (unframed; frame available on request, €65) Provenance: Published by Edition Partanen, Schluchsee, Germany, 1991
