Ce masque africain Dan présente des caractéristiques classiques dont la face assez plane avec un front bombé, des yeux béants circulaires, grands ouverts et une petite bouche lippue protubérante.
Le groupe ethnique Dan est installé dans l'extrême Ouest de la Côte d'Ivoire, juste à côté de la frontière avec la Guinée et avec le Libéria.
Beaucoup de types de masques existent dans l'art africain Dan ; celui-ci est un masque de course de type Gunye Ge.
