Description fournie par le vendeur
Elegant pair of antique French crystal knife rests incorporating integrated salt and pepper compartments, attributed to the renowned Portieux crystal manufacture and dating from the early 20th century.
Executed in finely molded crystal with refined proportions and luminous clarity, these rare 2-in-1 table accessories beautifully combine practicality with sophisticated Art de la Table aesthetics characteristic of prestigious French dining traditions.
The sculptural design reflects the elegance of early Portieux production, with delicate detailing and a graceful silhouette that captures and refracts light beautifully across the table setting. Pieces of this type were created for refined formal dining service, serving simultaneously as knife holders and individual condiment receptacles.
Both pieces remain in very good antique condition with light traces of time and use consistent with over a century of age. One example presents a very minor manufacturing imperfection, original to production and typical of early handmade crystal craftsmanship.
A rare and highly decorative collector's set, ideal for an elegant tablescape or a curated collection of antique French crystal.
