A beautiful and unique Greek Orthodox diptych, featuring two iconic depictions of the Virgin Mary (Theotokos) and Child. This piece is a fine example of religious folk art from the island of Tinos.
The item is crafted using high-quality lithography applied to hand-carved, dark-stained wood. The rustic, irregular shape of the wooden panels gives it a timeless, ascetic appearance, reminiscent of traditional Byzantine styles.
Left panel depicts the "Glykophilousa" (Sweet-Kissing) Virgin Mary, showing the tender bond between Mother and Son. Right panel features a frontal depiction of the Virgin Mary with Christ Child standing in a blessing posture. High-quality lithography on hand-finished wood.
