Antique Japanese Lacquer Jewellery Cabinet – Hand-Painted – Meiji/Taishō Period

Description

Charming antique Japanese lacquer jewellery cabinet dating from the late Meiji to early Taishō period (late 19th–early 20th century).

Crafted in black lacquer with delicate hand-painted gilt decoration featuring birds, flowers and foliage, this miniature cabinet reflects the elegant craftsmanship of traditional Japanese decorative arts.

The cabinet comprises:

Three drawers on the left
Three smaller drawers behind the hinged door
One large lower drawer

The original metal drawer pulls are present.

Condition

The cabinet shows honest age-related wear, including surface scratches, lacquer losses, rubbing to the gilt decoration and signs of use throughout, all consistent with its age.

The rear panel also displays age-related wear and old marks from previous storage.

The drawers and door function properly.
