Djenné-Djenno sculpture, collected in Mopti, Mali. These figures are found in the center of the burial urn containing the remains, as well as along the sides, as grave goods. A fragmentary bearded male Djenne-Jeno sculpture, Niger Inner Delta, Mali, seated on the lower legs, wearing a chain decorated with dots, several arm rings and a thick bracelet on each wrist, the hands resting flat on the knees, navel and breast nipples protruding, zig-zag ornaments on the shaved head, the mouth stands beak-like forward, on the ears which are semicircular sticking out the auditory canal is indicated, the widely protruding and several times outlined eyes are closed, so that a meditative impression is created; some visibly repaired areas, the nose is fragmentary. A Djenne funeral urn with the typical positions of the excavated sculptures, pictogram wj (last photo sequence).
