Kebren was a small Aeolian Greek city in the Troad near the Gulf of Adramyttion, positioned on inland and coastal trade routes. Its coinage reflects Anatolian and Greek traditions: the ram’s head may allude to pastoral wealth or a local cult, while the youthful male head may represent a deity or civic ideal. Persian influence preceded its incorporation into Macedonian and Hellenistic power struggles.
