Glenburgie 21 years old Distillery Labels - Gordon & MacPhail - b. 2019 - 70cl

Glenburgie 21-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled by the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail as part of their renowned Distillery Labels series. Tasting Notes Nose: Rich notes of baked raisins, brown sugar, and toasted hazelnuts. Floral nuances, sweet vanilla, and a faint trace of dried hay emerge. Palate: Structured and fruity, dominated by stewed apple, cinnamon, and cloves. Notes of summer red berries, forest honey, and subtle hints of fresh mint and toasted malt then develop. Finish: Long and enveloping, with lingering notes of toasted oak and a delicate herbaceous finish. Glenburgie Distillery History Founding (1810): Established near Forres in the Speyside region, it was originally founded by William Paul in 1810 under the name Kilnflat. Licensed production officially began in 1829. Changes and Ballantine's: After a period of closure, the distillery reopened in 1878, changing its name to Glenburgie. In 1936, it was acquired by Hiram Walker, becoming a fundamental pillar and the backbone for the famous Ballantine's blend. Innovations and Modernization: Between 1958 and 1981, Glenburgie was one of the few distilleries to experiment with Lomond stills (producing the rare malt known as Glencraig) before reverting to traditional copper pot stills. Completely rebuilt in 2004 to modernize its facilities, it is now owned by Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard) and is prized by connoisseurs for its elegant, fruit-forward profile.
