CORNAS THE GEYNALE ROBERT MICHEL 1989

Parcelle Reprise DEPUIS 2007 par son neveu vigneron VINCENT PARIS

Wine profile: A ripe wine with aromas of plums, raspberries, tapenade and spices.

Structure: Melted but rustic tannins, with a beautiful energy.

THE VINTAGE

The Genyale owes its name to the plot from which the syrah that composes this vintage comes. It is a steep hilltop located on one of the best terroirs of the appellation: the Reynard district. This hillside is distinguished by its south/southeast exposure, its granite and gneiss soil and the age of its centenary vineyards. In accordance with the convictions of its winemaker, winemaking is traditional. This wine opens with fullness and elegance on notes of black fruits, balsamic and licorice. The mouth is disconcertingly flexible. Its rich flavors coat the tannins offering a soft and silky material. It is a guard wine that has not finished showing its potential. To keep a few years then.

THE DOMAINE ROBERT MICHEL

Located in Cornas, a few meters from Alain Voge's estate, Robert Michel has been operating the family estate for many decades. Embodying the 4th generation of winemaker, he began his career in the mid-1970s, and, after many years of selling his wine to the trade, he signed his first vintage in 2006. Robert Michel is renowned for having enhanced the terroirs of Cornas and for having firmly defended the traditions of winemaking. Namely, to carry out manual harvesting, fermentations with indigenous yeasts and aging in one or more wines. Today, his estate is spread over 5 hectares and is proud to own the superb plot La Genyale on the hillside, facing south with granite and gneiss floors. His wines are therefore part of the tradition of Cornas.
