“Just an Illusion”
is a work about one of the greatest human illusions — the certainty that we see reality as it truly is.
Yet reality never reaches us unchanged. It passes through our memories, desires, fears, and expectations. Two people can experience the very same moment and carry away two entirely different truths.
It is precisely this boundary between reality and perception that lies at the heart of “Just an Illusion.”
The work raises the question of whether illusion is necessarily the opposite of truth. Sometimes, it is the way our consciousness transforms the world into something beautiful, desired, or possible. And sometimes, what we have accepted as an unquestionable truth turns out to be merely a version of reality we have chosen to believe in.
“Just an Illusion” does not provide an answer; it leaves the viewer to find it for themselves.
The work embodies Romi Gianna's distinctive approach to painting—art that is not simply observed, but experienced as atmosphere.
