Spanning the height of Miró’s mature mid-century career (1961–1970), this volume brings together issues 123, 128, 139–140, 164–165, and 186.

Profusely illustrated throughout with striking black-and-white photography and breathtaking original color lithographs and fold-out triptychs, this volume captures Miró in dynamic collaboration with master printers and writers. Because individual issues of DLM are routinely broken up by dealers to frame the loose plates, finding these seminal numbers preserved together in a publisher-sanctioned special hardbound binding is exceptionally rare.

Included Issues & Highlighted Lithography:
No. 123 (February 1961): Céramique murale pour Harvard. Features magnificent imagery and texts documenting Miró's monumental ceramic wall project executed with Josep Llorens Artigas for Harvard University.

No. 128 (1961): Published for Miró's exhibition of monumental murals (Peintures pour grands espaces), featuring critical contributions by Josep Lluís Sert and Joan Brossa, highlighted by stunning color lithographs including double-page and triple-page fold-outs.

Nos. 139–140 (June–July 1963): Terres nouvelles de Miró et Artigas / Céramiques monumentales. Dedicated to their landmark ceramic collaborations ("Terres de grand feu"), featuring multiple original color lithographs, including dramatic double-page plates and a fold-out triptych, accompanied by text from André Pieyre de Mandiargues.

Nos. 164–165 (April–May 1967): L'Oiseau Solaire, L'Oiseau Lunaire, Étincelles. A monumental double issue featuring five original color lithographs by Miró, including striking multi-fold plates that showcase his iconic cosmic and avian motifs.

No. 186 (June 1970): Sculptures. Published for the major exhibition of Miró’s sculptures at Galerie Maeght, featuring texts by André Balthazar and Jacques Dupin, paired with original lithographic wrappers/plates and extensive photo-documentation of 53 sculptures.

Condition Report
Overall Rating: Very Good (VG-).

Exterior: Bound in the classic Maeght special navy cloth hardboards with crisp white spine titling and publisher blindstamp device. Minor, natural sunning to the edges of the boards and light handling wear, remaining strong and handsome.

Interior: Pages and plates are wonderfully preserved, clean, and completely unmarked. Light, expected wear to the internal sewn binding threads across signatures, but the block remains exceptionally well-secured and structurally sound. Texts entirely in French.

An essential, museum-grade acquisition for serious collectors of post-war European printmaking, avant-garde periodicals, and the definitive graphic work of Joan Miró.
