Description fournie par le vendeur

Frank Lloyd Wright — an American architect, founder of “organic architecture,” and a pioneer of the open-plan concept. His Prairie Houses became the prototype for 20th-century American residential design, and he is regarded by the American Institute of Architects as the most influential architect in the history of the United States.

The “Coonley #2” brooch created for ACME Studio translates one of Wright’s most iconic decorative compositions — the geometric motif from the Coonley Playhouse windows (1907–1908) — into a miniature work of wearable art. The original design, composed of circles, squares, and intersecting linear rhythms, reflects Wright’s unique exploration of abstraction, balance, and color in architectural ornament.

Produced under official license from the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, this brooch belonged to a limited series manufactured between 1987 and 1994. ACME Studio worked directly with the Foundation to adapt archival drawings into cloisonné enamel, a technique that preserves the clarity of Wright’s lines and the saturated tones of his palette. Each edition required Foundation approval of prototypes before production, ensuring strict fidelity to the original architectural artwork.

ACME Studio’s collaborations with Wright sit at the intersection of architecture and design culture. Today, these pieces are held in the permanent collections of major institutions, including MoMA (New York), the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.

Wright editions have become highly collectible due to their limited production and the absence of modern reissues.

À propos du vendeur

Chimay Collection House is a cultural and collecting project from Belgium, where art, history, and investment potential come together. It was founded in Chimay (ʃi-mɛ), a historic principality in Wallonia, Belgium, within an 18th-century home that became a symbol of continuity. Just as stone preserves the passage of time, collections live on, passing from one generation to another. The project is led by a Belgian diplômé antiquaire with over 15 years of experience. At its core lies histoire de l’art and a philosophy that views collecting both as cultural heritage and as a long-term value. We have chosen two fields where passion and investment converge: — Costume Jewelry of the 20th century — collectible pieces, many documented in major reference books and catalogues. — Collectible Barbie Dolls — iconic editions that reflect fashion, design, and the culture of their time. Chimay Collection House is not static — it grows and evolves. Its mission is to act as a guide for collectors worldwide, helping them to discover beauty, understand value, and shape the future through collections.
