Description
The Macallan Harmony Collection Inspired by Intense Arabica is the second release in The Macallan's limited annual Harmony Collection. This distinctive single malt was inspired by the world of coffee and, specifically, the Ethiopian Arabica coffee bean.
The expression was created by The Macallan Whisky Maker Steven Bremner, who explored the relationship between whisky and coffee together with coffee specialists. The Intense Arabica expression was inspired by the robust and intense characteristics of Harrar and Guji Ethiopian coffee beans.
Bottled at 44% ABV, this expression combines the characteristic richness of The Macallan with pronounced roasted coffee-inspired flavours.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Crema
Nose: Tiramisu, cappuccino, gingerbread, raisins, almonds, sweet oak and vanilla.
Palate: Espresso, dark chocolate and raisins, followed by tiramisu, blackberry, vanilla, Brazil nut and sweet oak.
Finish: Long, balanced and sweet, with a distinctive dark-roast coffee character.
The whisky offers a distinctive combination of coffee, chocolate, dried fruit, sweet oak and baking-spice notes, making it one of the more unusual and recognisable expressions in The Macallan's Harmony Collection.
Presentation & Packaging
The Harmony Collection Inspired by Intense Arabica is presented in a distinctive gift box incorporating repurposed and recycled materials, including coffee bean husks, a by-product of coffee production that would otherwise be discarded.
The packaging was designed around the coffee theme, with the red colour inspired by the rich colour of the coffee fruit.
Bottle & Packaging Condition
The bottle is supplied with its original presentation box. The exact condition of the bottle, labels, capsule, fill level and presentation box can be seen in the photographs provided in this listing.
For additional protection during storage, Parafilm was applied around the bottle closure/capsule. The Parafilm has been temporarily removed solely to allow clear photographs of the capsule and bottle closure from all angles. After the photographs have been taken, Parafilm will be applied again around the closure before shipping for additional protection during transportation and storage.
