ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Sangoku” focuses on the character at a quieter, more intense moment rather than in full action.
The lowered head, closed expression, and strong side profile give the figure a more serious presence, while the sharp black stencil lines keep the composition graphic and immediately recognizable.
The blue-grey background is broken by red marks, creating tension without overpowering the subject. It gives the piece a raw, urban feel and works especially well with the darker silhouette.
A strong piece for collectors who prefer Sangoku shown with focus, restraint, and presence rather than pure movement.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alexandre Petrus is a French stencil artist with a strong and instantly recognizable visual identity. His signature technique — the hand-cut double-layer stencil — separates light and shadow into two distinct stencils, layered onto a spontaneous, hand-painted abstract background. The result is a sharp figure emerging from a textured and instinctive surface.
To date, 450+ artworks sold in 10+ countries. His originals are held in private collections across France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, the UAE, and the US. He has performed live painting for major French institutions including Disneyland Paris, created large-scale murals for corporate headquarters, and exhibited in several French street art festivals. His work is currently shown at Galerie Spot 72 in Le Mans.
His subjects move between mythology, pop culture, wildlife and emotionally charged scenes. Whatever the theme, the signature remains the same: precise stencil work, instinctive backgrounds, and the small smiling “AP” monogram — Alexandre’s two initials fused into a face — sprayed on every original piece.
Each artwork is a unique original. No prints, no identical editions: every background is painted individually and spontaneously on the canvas, making each piece different.
