HUSH - VASHKA - 2026
HUSH is a unique mixed-media work on canvas created by VASHKA in Lyon, France.
The work explores the tension between what we choose to reveal and what we learn to keep silent. HUSH approaches silence not simply as an absence of expression, but as something that can gradually become part of identity and of the way we are perceived by others.
This psychological dimension lies at the centre of VASHKA’s artistic language.
The project explores human behaviour, identity and the unspoken through figures that appear familiar and desirable, yet subtly altered.
VASHKA brings together contrasting visual codes: the restraint, elegance and desirability associated with high-fashion and luxury imagery meet a more punk, marginal and non-conforming attitude. Rather than reproducing the codes of luxury, VASHKA uses their sense of refinement, image and controlled appearance as a counterpoint to characters who seem slightly outside those very codes.
In HUSH, this contrast appears through the polished fashion-inspired portrait, synthetic colours and carefully composed appearance of the figure, confronted with a punk hairstyle, an altered face and a detached expression. The result sits between attraction and discomfort — familiar, until it isn’t.
The original concept and artistic direction were developed by VASHKA. The visual was created and refined using artificial intelligence as part of the digital creative process, before being printed, manually cut and assembled, and applied to canvas.
The work was then physically altered by hand. The hair was reworked with acrylic paint, the edges of the canvas were hand-painted, and the finished piece received a glossy acrylic protective coating. These interventions make this physical version of HUSH a unique work.
“Some things are loudest when left unsaid.”
