INÈS ROUISSI — VORTEX KINTSUGI — 2023
Unique 3D Sculptural Painting — Kintsugi Collection
Offered Without Reserve Price
What if our fractures were not something to hide, but the very places where light enters?
In Vortex Kintsugi, contemporary artist Inès Rouissi transforms the philosophy of Japanese Kintsugi—the art of revealing repaired fractures with gold—into a powerful abstract composition exploring resilience, transformation and renewal.
Concentric movements of emerald, deep forest green, jade and mineral sage spiral toward a hypnotic central point. Between these chromatic currents, hand-worked passages of gold pigment rise physically from the canvas, creating a genuine three-dimensional relief.
The gold is not simply a colour.
It becomes matter, light and the memory of a fracture transformed into strength.
Viewed from the front, the composition draws the eye progressively toward its centre, evoking a vortex, an ancient tree ring, an eye or an imaginary portal. From an angle, the experience changes: the raised golden surfaces capture ambient light, producing evolving shadows, highlights and reflections throughout the day.
At the outer edges, fragments of gold escape from the circular structure and disperse across the dark background like particles released from the vortex. This deliberate rupture gives the composition its emotional tension: something has been fractured, reconstructed and ultimately made more visible through transformation.
Its physical depth and changing metallic reflections cannot be fully conveyed through photography alone.
THE KINTSUGI COLLECTION
Through her Kintsugi Collection, Inès Rouissi explores the possibility of finding strength and beauty within imperfection.
Rather than reproducing traditional Japanese ceramics, the artist translates the philosophy of Kintsugi into her own contemporary visual language.
The fracture becomes a golden line.
The line becomes a circle.
The circle becomes movement.
The movement becomes a vortex.
The wound is no longer concealed. It becomes the most luminous element of the composition.
THE ARTIST
Born in 1977, Inès Rouissi is a Mediterranean artist-researcher whose practice develops at the intersection of material experimentation, spatial perception, light and abstraction.
Her work investigates relationships between interior and exterior space, structure, texture, movement and perception. Combining intuition with continuous experimentation, Rouissi creates artworks designed not merely to occupy a wall, but to interact actively with their environment.
Her Mediterranean sensibility can be perceived through her attention to light, organic movement and materiality. Within the Kintsugi Collection, this research acquires a symbolic dimension: rupture is transformed into balance, and vulnerability becomes a visible source of strength.
A UNIQUE, ENTIRELY HAND-CREATED ARTWORK
Vortex Kintsugi is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork—not a print, reproduction or edition.
Every acrylic layer, circular movement and raised golden element was individually formed by hand. Variations in relief and surface are intentional characteristics of the artist’s process and contribute to the uniqueness of the work.

At 50 × 50 × 3 cm, Vortex Kintsugi combines a concentrated format with a remarkably powerful presence. From a distance, it appears meditative; at closer range, it reveals an intricate landscape of matter, light and transformation.
A vortex can pull everything toward darkness.
Inès Rouissi reverses that idea: at the centre of this vortex, what survives is gold.
