ABOUT THE ARTWORK

LE GORILLE

A gorilla has a rare kind of presence. Quiet strength, intelligence and raw instinct all at once.

This piece focuses on that direct, grounded energy. The textured background mixes earthy khaki tones with luminous turquoise, while the stencil work keeps the animal sharp, powerful and immediately recognizable.

A strong wildlife piece with real character — bold enough to anchor a room, yet balanced by a calm and natural palette.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Alexandre Petrus is a French stencil artist with a strong and instantly recognizable visual identity. His signature technique — the hand-cut double-layer stencil — separates light and shadow into two distinct stencils, layered onto a spontaneous, hand-painted abstract background. The result: a sharp, iconic figure rising from a vibrant, textured chaos of color.

To date, 450+ artworks sold in 10+ countries, from France and Spain to the Netherlands, Germany, the UAE, and the US. He has performed live painting for major French institutions including Disneyland Paris, created large-scale murals for corporate headquarters, and exhibited in several French street art festivals (Grimaud, Perpignan, Venelles). His work is currently shown at Galerie Spot 72 in Le Mans.

His subjects move between mythology, pop culture icons, wildlife and emotionally charged scenes. Whatever the theme, the signature remains: precise stencil work, instinctive background, and the small smiling "AP" monogram — Alexandre's two initials fused into a face — sprayed on every original piece. His street art roots also extend through POPCHIPS, a project in which he places small original paintings in urban spaces, creating unexpected encounters between art and passers-by.

Each painting is a unique, hand-painted original. The same stencil design may be used in other original paintings, but every background and colour composition is individually created. Each hand-cut stencil is strictly limited to a maximum of 50 original artworks. Once that limit is reached, the stencil is permanently retired. A deliberate choice to preserve scarcity, protect the identity of each series, and avoid diluting the value of the work.
