Natural age-related tarnish and surface wear consistent with period use. • Form: Shield/octagonal plaque with slightly rounded corners. Two original side loops (for suspension or attachment to clothing/saddle). • Front: Completely covered in dense, finely executed Arabic/Ottoman script. Central lobed (mihrab-style) cartouche containing multiple lines of protective verses/prayers, surrounded by continuous border inscriptions. Typical of Ottoman protective amulets intended against the evil eye, illness, or misfortune. • Back: Largely plain with a circular stamped seal/medallion containing Arabic numerals and short inscriptions (likely workshop mark, inventory number or Hijri date reference), enclosed by a zigzag border.
