Equinox
Equinox is a painting series exploring the quiet balance of light — the still, suspended moment where no direction dominates, when a color seems to sit in perfect equilibrium against the canvas. Each work centers on a radiant field of pigment held in a kind of chromatic stillness, a body of color resting at its own center of gravity.
The works draw on James Turrell's investigations of perceptual space, the chromatic fields of Mark Rothko, the saturated immersions of Yves Klein, the atmospheric installations of Olafur Eliasson, the pigment work of Anish Kapoor, the color meditations of Josef Albers, and the soft gradients of Wolfgang Tillmans' abstract photograms — artists for whom color, edge, and transition carry the weight that line and form do elsewhere.

The Process:
Each work begins with raw canvas cut to size and taped down onto an MDF board, which has been built up at its center through successive layers of masking tape to create a very slight rise in the painting surface. Silicone sheets with cut-out shapes of varying sizes and inner forms are then placed on top of the stretched fabric, serving as guides for laying in the initial composition. The acrylic paint used in this stage is mixed with retarders and flow mediums that alter its viscosity and significantly slow its drying time, keeping the surface workable for the next step. Once the shapes are painted in, a second structure — identical in size to the base board, with a large sponge fixed to its underside — is lowered onto the wet surface until it makes full contact with the paint. Wood sanding machines mounted to the top of this structure are then switched on, and their vibration is transmitted through the sponge into the painting, blurring and dissolving the painted shapes into one another over the course of the process. In some works the sponge is pre-soaked with a specialized liquid that lends the finished surface a deep, built-in gloss; in others, the varnish is applied separately once the work has dried. After the structure is lifted, the painting is left to rest for three to four hours until it is fully set.
Equinox is a series about equilibrium — the quiet point where light holds steady, and the suspended stillness of a color balanced perfectly in its own weight.

Shipping:
The work is delivered without a frame (professional packaging, rolled in a tube). it can easily be restretched by a professional or on your own, this is also cheaper then the otherwise increased cost of shipping when sending paintings stretched

The measurements indicated are those of the painting stretched and mounted on a frame (The actual measurements of the canvas are larger to allow it to be mounted on a frame 2-4 cm thick.

Disclaimer:
Process photos included in the listing show studies and works in progress, as well as close up photos of showing the structure of the canvas.
