The unique feature is the oriented intergrowth of clear quartz over the rubellite generation. Notice that where the quartz did not grow, a late generation of dark verdelite tourmaline coated the rubellite, making for a 'skeletal' termination. A perfect and unique specimen from the 1970's-90's discoveries in Minas Gerais.
