The figure sits in a meditative posture atop a double-layered lotus pedestal, hands joined in prayer (anjali mudra), surrounded by a radiating halo of countless arms, each originally bearing symbolic implements to aid sentient beings. Multiple heads are carved above the serene main face, a traditional feature symbolising the ability to perceive all suffering and respond with boundless compassion. The sculpture includes its original wooden mandorla (flaming aureole) and a multi-tiered base carved in lotus and architectural motifs. Areas of coloured pigment remain, particularly on the robe folds and facial features, hinting at the vibrant original polychrome. Traces of green, vermilion, and blue can still be seen on the garment and adornments. This striking presence and scale suggest it once served as a temple piece or devotional object in a sacred setting. Please note: There is extensive surface deterioration due to age, and flaking may continue. The statue shows patina, discolouration, and soiling. Several items once held in the hands are missing, and some hands have been reattached with adhesive. The little finger of the topmost hand on the left arm is missing. There are visible losses and breaks in the flame mandorla, and small chips are present on the pedestal. While careful packaging will be ensured, please understand that further flaking may occur during transport. Kindly examine the photos closely to assess condition.
