Luce Brunello di Montalcino 2016 Luce Brunello is our tribute to Montalcino, the land where, in the second half of the 19th century, Brunello was born, the first wine in Italy to earn the Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG). It was 1980. Of Tenuta Luce's 88 hectares of vineyards, 11 are registered in the Brunello di Montalcino Register. This is where the grapes destined for Luce Brunello are grown, reflecting the excellence of a terroir with undeniable winemaking vocation. It is our personal interpretation of the renowned Brunello di Montalcino, without sacrificing the originality that has always characterized all our wines. The 2016 vintage began the season mildly, with normal rainfall. In spring, rainfall was abundant and well-distributed, favoring budbreak, which occurred slightly early in early April. A hot summer followed, with no excessive daytime temperatures, with August punctuated by some beneficial rain, helping to avoid water stress for the plants. September was very sunny with significant temperature swings, which favored a rich concentration of aromas and polyphenols within the grapes.
