Yatate 矢立 Portable Calligraphy Tool - Encrier (3) - Acier

This is a set of three traditional Japanese yatate (矢立), a type of portable writing instrument historically used by samurai, merchants, and travelers during the Edo period. Each piece in this set displays distinct craftsmanship and character, combining utility with cultural heritage. The middle yatate, created by the artisan Kouhei (康平), features the prestigious Tokugawa clan crest (葵紋) finely inlaid in gold on the ink pot cap — a mark of status and historical value. (approx. 170g) The rear yatate is a rare and uniquely shaped model, and comes with a gold-toned brass case. The surface of the case is adorned with relief engravings of flowers and plants, resulting in a beautiful finish. It also serves as an ideal storage box that keeps the brush securely protected.
