VITYRA - 瞬 - No Reserve

瞬 Charcoal, clay, ochre and ink on canvas 100cm x 140cm (39 inches x 55 inches) This contemplative large-format painting by contemporary artist VITYRA explores the fleeting nature of perception — the way a form can appear and dissolve in the same breath. Titled 瞬 (Matataki), a Japanese word meaning “a blink” or “an instant”, the piece evokes the fragility of moments that shimmer and vanish, like light refracted through smoke. Measuring 100cm by 140cm, the artwork is crafted on a hand-stretched cotton canvas using charcoal, clay, ochre, and ink — natural, mineral-based materials that settle into the fibers like weather into stone. The pigments bleed and coalesce, not unlike vapor or flame, creating subtle gradients where black softens into burnt sienna and ambered ash. In keeping with the philosophy of wabi-sabi, the composition embraces impermanence and the beauty of what resists definition. There’s no clear edge, no singular subject — only the trace of something emerging or dissolving, as if seen just once before disappearing again. VITYRA’s distinctive visual language — at once minimal and emotionally saturated — continues to resonate for its deep sense of rawness and restraint. Each piece is created without repetition or plan, making this a singular work of expression: an unrepeatable moment, caught before it vanished. This original painting by VITYRA is discreetly hand-signed on the reverse side to preserve the purity of the artwork’s surface and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. VITYRA is represented by S-Gallery, a well-known gallery for Viennese boundary-pushing contemporary artists. The artwork will be shipped rolled in a secure, protective tube—an eco-friendly and safe method that reduces shipping costs and risk of damage. The canvas measures 100 x 140 cm, with an extra 5 cm border on each side for easy re-stretching. Frame placement is lightly marked on the back to assist precise mounting.
