This sculpture, La Menina II (Opus 117), was created between 1972 and 1973 by renowned Spanish sculptor Miguel Ortiz Berrocal (1933–2006). It serves as a tribute to the celebrated Spanish poet Rafael Alberti, and is part of Berrocal’s ongoing investigation into the fusion of art, mathematics, and engineering. Composed of 23 interlocking bronze elements, the sculpture is not merely an aesthetic object but an intellectual puzzle, inviting the viewer to explore its hidden interior.
