Six Days of Paris - Cyclisme - Francesco Moser - 1984 - Maillot de cyclisme
When, in February 1984, the Six Jours de Paris returned following a 26-year hiatus, the new Hour Record holder Moser was the star attraction. He rode the Six (held at Bercy) with Didi Thurau, and famously went on to win both Milan-San Remo and the Giro d’Italia.
A second Six was organized between 14-19 November, and Moser was partnered with the great Dutch specialist René Pijnen. They wore number 2, whilst the La Vie Claire pair Gert Frank and Bernard Vallet were team number 1 and Renault’s Laurent Fignon and Charly Mottet constituted team 3.
As was customary, Moser’s jersey was distinguishable from that of his partner. Whilst on Moser’s jersey the numbers on the back and sleeves were black, on Pijnen’s they were red. They won the event, with Frank and Vallet second and the Australians Danny Clark and Gary Wiggins third.
A beautiful keepsake from Moser's annus mirabilis.
