This set of instruments is the rawap, a traditional plucked string instrument of the Uyghur people, possessing distinct ethnic artistic characteristics and cultural value.
Structurally, it consists of a body, neck, headstock, tuning pegs, strings, and bridge. The body is mostly hemispherical, with some parts covered in python skin to optimize resonance; the neck is long and has frets for easy tuning; the headstock has a unique shape and multiple tuning pegs for adjusting the string pitch.
In terms of decorative craftsmanship, these rawaps employ inlay and carving techniques, adorned with ethnically styled patterns, giving the instrument both practical function and artistic appeal.
In cultural contexts, the rawap is one of the core instruments in Uyghur musical performances and folk activities. Its unique timbre and shape convey the profound heritage of Xinjiang's ethnic music, serving as an important vehicle for the inheritance and artistic expression of ethnic culture.
This instrument is a bit old; I replaced one of the strings with a new one, but it still works perfectly. When shipping the instrument, I made sure all the strings were fully loose to prevent damage. Once you receive it, you can adjust the tone yourself.
