Port Mourant 1998 Plantation - Guyana - Ocho Tequila cask - b. 2018 - 70cl
Distilled in 1998 and matured for 17 years in Guyana. The majority of the maturation occurred in ex-bourbon barrels, but this rum was finished for six months in Ocho Tequila casks. After this the rum was moved to France, where it rested in casks that previously held Ferrand Cognac, before being bottled in 2018 by Plantation. The nose holds bright, fresh notes of agave, followed by zesty limes, black pepper, almonds and mango. The palate is full-bodied, with dense oak notes, salty olives, cloves and cocoa.
