'Through the photographs and text in A Week in Daniel's World, Daniel Lafouge and the streets and homes of France come alive. Daniel is a vigorous, alert, volatile French boy who lives with his parents and sister in a town near Paris. In the course of following Daniel's week, the reader comes to know more about life in all French towns.
The Lafouge family, like many French families, enjoys food and all the things connected with it. Daniel is seen in a cheese shop, a bakery, a restaurant and at an outdoor market. He helps his mother prepare fresh vegetables for dinner; he eats snails; and he buys a long, crisp loaf of French bread.
In Daniel's world, a family outing is a visit to the Palace of Versailles. A diversion for Daniel is watching men bowling outdoors, and part of Daniel's young life is learning to drive a mini-car.
When the last page of A Week in Daniel's World is turned, the reader will feel he has found a new friend in Daniel.'
