WMF / Geislingen, Orivit - Chandelier (2) - Étain

Dear Bidders, Thank you for your interest in my offer. You are bidding here on a beautiful set of 2 candle holders, which are in a good vintage condition for its age. Orivit pieces — especially from circa 1898–1910 — are considered collectible and appreciated as fine examples of Art Nouveau metalwork. Their combination of craftsmanship, design quality, and historical importance makes them valuable among collectors and vintage lovers. Great chance to have wonderful antique Art Nouveau set at your home and decorate your Christmas table. SOME GENERAL INFORMATIONS: The ORIVIT trademark was registered in 1898 by Ferdinand Hubert Schmitz, who took over the repeatedly renamed "Rheinische Bronze- und Metallwarenfabrik Johann Heinrich Welke" in Bedburg in 1894. The first products were presented at the Christmas exhibition in the Munich Museum of Decorative Arts, followed by participation in the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris, where the company won a gold medal. In 1903, a new factory was built in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. After the takeover of Orivit AG by the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, Heinrich Alle took over management in 1905, supported by Georg Friedrich Schmitt in a position from 1906 onwards. Their catalogue included a wide range of items: pewter, copper, brass, and silverware — such as candlesticks, trays, bowls, pitchers, vases, coffee and tea-services, and decorative household items. Some pieces combined metalwork with glass, porcelain, or crystal. In 1905, Orivit AG encountered financial difficulties and was acquired by the large German metalware manufacturer WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik). After the acquisition, WMF continued to produce and sell items under the Orivit brand for some years — effectively integrating Orivit’s craftsmanship and designs into its larger production network. This absorption allowed WMF to expand its offerings of decorative and functional metalware, but at the same time marked the end of Orivit as an independent company. SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONS: * Made in Germany * Brand Orivit AG / WMF * Measurements: approx. 24x22 cm * Marked: ORIVIT + some digits, that are hard to read + 2 120 + GERMANY * In original condition with patina belongings to the age * Please watch all the pictures, they are also a part of description * I would like to point out that the items I am selling are several decades old and therefore show general signs of use and age, such as minor scratches, scuffs, discoloration, dust, cracks, dents, chips etc. Any major damage is always shown in the photos * Please remember about Catawiki’s rules and made a payment maximally within 3 days after auction end The glasses will be properly prepared for shipping and sent insured ( up to 500€ ). IMPORTANT! If, however, the item is damaged or lost, please contact me via the internal Catawiki chat. According to EU law for courier companies, in any case of damage to an international shipment, the first step in obtaining compensation is for the RECIPIENT to report the damage to their local supplier within 7 days of receiving the shipment. Only then, after the RECIPENT ( you ) receives a certificate of damage, I as the sender can claim compensation. In addition, the following photos will be required: the damage to the item, the outside of the box with the shipping label, and the inside of the box including the materials used to protect the shipment. Please don’t bid if you don’t accept that. Happy bidding and good luck! ***Condition categories according to Catawiki:*** * „as new” - unused * „excellent condition” - barely used with minimal signs of wear / usage * „good condition” - used with small signs of aging * „fair condition” - heavily used with possibly minor damage / parts missing * „poor” - heavily used with major cracks, damages and / or major parts missing * „very poor” - showing significant decay, loss of original texture or solidity of the material
