A Chinese Famille Rose ‘Lady on Qilin' tea pot. China, 19th century, late Qing dynasty, Tonghzi (1861-1875, 同治) period. Excellent condition! Finely potted in compressed from, with S-shaped molded spout and high handle above the cover. Decorated to the exterior with a lady riding Qilin under the umbrella (?), keeping child in hands, wearing a traditional robe with gilt flames; on other side two soldiers (?) with banners. Top of the handle and part of the spout under iron red paint imitating wood. Cover with flower spray and butterfly. Inscribed to the base with iron red four-character Tongzhi seal-mark and from the period. Remains of an old paper label on the side. Daylight pictures included. Dimensions: height - 12,7 cm; length (with spout and ear) - 12,4 cm; diameter - 9,6 cm cm. Weight - 257 g. Provenance: private collection, Paris, France. Conditions report: tea pot in perfect condition, no damages, minimal wear the decor and gilding. Cover with restored top-finial, wear to the gilding. Strong white light tested.
