An antique English walnut homeopathic medicine case with brass fittings from around 1880. The key fits but does not turn the lock, otherwise in good original condition. The lid is lined with black leather with a nice clean gilt lettered inscription reading "By appointment to the London Homeopathic Hospital E. Gould & Son Chemists. 59 Moorgate Street, E. C. and 20 Bishop's Road W.'" Eleven of twelve bottles are present, two with a broken bases, eight have labels for "A. H. Waddington Homeopathic Chemist 31 Darley Street Bradford." each bottle is glass with a cork stopper, the content being stamped on the top of the cork stopper in each case and which we list here, Silica (empty), Cocculus (broken base), Hydrast, Kali. Bi, Lycopod, Antibiotic, Anti MT (broken base), Cactus, Calc. P, Sepia and one stamp being indecipherable. Goulds Pharmacy was established in London, though the exact date it was established is uncertain, it is thought to have been in 1849. Goulds became a homeopathic Chemist by Appointment to the London Homeopathic Hospital. Goulds Pharmacy still flourishes today, at 24-26 Arcadia Ave. London N3 2JU. The London Homoeopathic Hospital, founded in 1849, was a pioneering institution for homeopathic medicine in Britain. It later became the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital and is now known as the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine (RLHIM). The case measures 12.5 x 10 x 9.3cm (4.92" x 3.94" x 3.66"), (w x d x h).
