The item is an 1830 Great Britain Masonic or Freemason medal of Honorable Testimonial of Masonic Charity & Benevolence. The medal was instituted by Prince Augustus Frederick, the Duke of Sussex and first Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England. It was awarded to Masons who served as stewards for the Royal Masonic Institutions for Boys and Girls, requiring a minimum donation to qualify. The obverse features a seated figure personifying Goodness with two children, and the Eye of Providence above. It's for Display only please, good condition for an age. *First type and most valuable A “chapter” or “mark” masonic coin (or penny) signified a pivotal part of a Mason's initiation. *A second type of Masonic coin is the “initiation token,” which shows when a Brother was initiated, passed, and raised into the Brotherhood. * The third type is a token which celebrates a particular mason, lodge, or event( current auction) Whenever you want to enter secret Ceremony this coin will open most of the doors for you… This token/coin was used while Freemasons was traveling abroad, mostly across the Ocean where they as per usual was trading with other nations.
