‘Sassoalloro’ is the most representative label of the Castello di Montepò estate of Jacopo Biondi Santi, a pure Sangiovese Grosso that reflects the Mediterranean character of the Tuscan Maremma. It is an expression of Sangiovese Grosso BBS 11, the prestigious clone that the Biondi Santi family has reproduced in the Montalcino area and that Jacopo brought to Maremma in his adventure, undertaken in the 90s of the last century. In particular, ‘Sassoalloro’ was produced for the first time with the 1991 vintage and owes its name to an erratic boulder of volcanic origin located near the estate.
