He studied under Kiyokata Kaburagi and, alongside Itō Shinsui, became one of the leading masters of modern bijinga. Terashima was active in major exhibitions such as Teiten, Bunten, and Nitten, gaining wide recognition for his work. His paintings are noted for their quiet elegance and psychological depth in depicting women.
