Takeshi Nishiura 西浦武 - Tál - Kerámia - wabi-sabi szépség

Description: This bowl is a striking example of Echizen ware from Wakitani Kiln, created by potter Nishiura Takeshi. The form is organic and asymmetrical, embodying a natural, wabi-sabi beauty that feels as if it emerged directly from the earth and fire rather than from a rigid mold. Its gently folded rim, uneven contours, and soft, flowing silhouette give it a quiet presence full of personality and spontaneity. The surface reveals the hallmarks of Echizen’s wood-fired tradition: coarse, sandy clay; natural ash deposits; and richly varied glaze effects created unpredictably within the kiln. Across the interior, molten ash has formed deep olive, charcoal, and golden tones, pooling and swirling to create beautiful, almost landscape-like patterns. The rim is accented with a silvery, vitrified sheen—evidence of intense heat exposure—while the exterior retains a rough, stone-like texture typical of Echizen’s high-iron clay. The underside shows the raw, unglazed clay body, marked by areas of red oxidation and natural ash fusion. The foot area preserves the earthy, primitive character of the firing, grounding the piece firmly in the ancient Echizen aesthetic. True to Nishiura Takeshi’s style, the bowl balances deliberate shaping with the free expression of fire. It is rustic but refined, functional but sculptural—perfect as a serving bowl, a table centerpiece, or a display piece that highlights the elemental beauty of Echizen-yaki. NOTICE
