Le Mortelle, owned by the Antinori family, produces this Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc to create an intriguing, decisive and well-balanced wine that expresses the unique character of the Maremma region. 2023 was a generally cool and rather rainy year in the early part of the season, especially until June, while the summer was characterised by heat waves. These climatic conditions ensured regular budding of the plants. The drop in temperatures towards the end of August and beginning of September and the excellent temperature variations between day and night helped to preserve the aromatic components of the grapes. Harvesting began in the second week of September with Cabernet Franc, which gives the wine an elegant tannic structure, and continued a week later with Cabernet Sauvignon, characterised by fragrances of ripe red fruit.
