Jan Altink (Dutch, 1885–1971) – Blue Mountains and Yellow Lake (1950), watercolor on paper. This lyrical later work shows Altink’s mature style, in which atmosphere and color dominate over strict form. Layers of blue and grey shape the mountainous landscape, contrasted by a luminous yellow lake that brings warmth and balance to the composition. The work is signed and dated “J. Altink ’50” lower right. Dimensions: sheet size 33 × 49 cm; the image occupies most of the sheet. This is a unique work and not part of an edition. The watercolor originates from a Dutch private collection. No additional documentation is present.
