About the Artist
Arthur Szyk (1894–1951) was a Polish-Jewish master illustrator renowned for his richly detailed, illuminated-manuscript style. His work blends medieval and Renaissance artistic traditions with modern political and Jewish themes. Unlike most illustrators of his time, Szyk rejected modernism and instead embraced the precision, symbolism and ornamentation of classical manuscript art.
His Haggadah is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and important illustrated Haggadot of the modern era.
