Descrizione del venditore
Antique double-pan beam scale – Austria – pre-WWII (circa 1920–1930) – with brass trade weights
Original Central European shop counter balance scale made of cast iron with enamel finish, steel beam and brass trays. This type of weighing instrument was commonly used in grocery shops, markets and small businesses during the interwar period.
The scale comes with three original brass trade weights. One weight bears an official Austrian verification stamp (“Eichstempel”) applied by the weights-and-measures authority to certify accuracy for commercial trade. Such inspection marks were periodically struck by local calibration offices and support an Austrian origin and dating to the pre-Second World War period.
On the underside of the base a stamped assembly number “367” is visible. These numbers were used during factory calibration to keep the matched beam and base together and indicate that the parts belong originally to each other.
The beam moves freely and responds correctly. The scale slightly favors one side due to age but balances properly after minimal adjustment (for example a very small counterweight such as a coin), which is typical for historical trade scales.
Condition
Good antique condition with normal signs of age and use.
Original enamel paint present with small losses, scratches and wear.
Brass trays and weights show natural patina and oxidation.
No structural breaks or modern repairs observed.
Origin
Austria (confirmed by Austrian calibration stamp on one weight).
Factory assembly number 367 stamped on the underside.
Dimensions (cm)
Width: 46 cm
Height: 23 cm
Depth: 18 cm
Weight of the scale: approx. 3.7 kg (without weights)
Included
Three brass trade weights (one with Austrian official stamp).
The scale will be carefully packed. Tracked and insured parcel shipment.
