Unobtainable limited reproduction (280 copies) of famous Galileo’s military compass of Museum of History of Science in Florence. This compass was created exceptionally in collaboration with the Italian Military Geographical Institute for members of the EUREF Symposium 2009.
The box (30.5 x 22 cm) contains the compass (26x5 cm, thickness 4 mm), the goniometer (17 cm thickness 5 mm), the foot screws and plumb, all brass. This compass, in thick brass, is really heavy (735 grams).
The size and engravings are exact copies of the Galileo's compass were made using diamond-tipped engraver.
The box contains a illustrated book (60 pages) in Italian and English with the story of Galileo's compass with reproductions of original drawings, plus an interesting CD with various multimedia simulations for use of the compass.
To know of it more, I suggest you to see Here the notable site of the Museum of History of Science in Florence, then on simulation, then on the enrolled operations along the rules of the compass; the same simulations are brought in the CD inside the box.
