In strict side profile, a male face emerges from deep red - revealed through paint removal from a single, uniform crimson foundation. The profile orientation strips the face of its full dimension, reducing identity to silhouette and line. VANTA works the surface to extract form from color alone, the jaw, brow, and nose defined by how much red has been taken away and how much preserved.

The profile is among the most ancient of human depictions - currency, monument, memorial.
