Euthydemos I was a key figure in the early history of the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom, ruling circa 225–200 BCE after seizing power from the Diodotid dynasty. His reign marked a period of consolidation and defense of Hellenistic control in Central Asia. Most notably, he successfully resisted a major siege by the Seleucid king Antiochos III at Baktra around 208 BCE, after which he secured recognition of his rule through diplomacy. Euthydemos' coinage reflects both his military resilience and his efforts to legitimize his dynasty, which laid the foundation for future Greco-Bactrian expansion into India.
