Richard Keilwerth Marching Fife - Tuning C-flat - Grenadilla Wood
I am offering for auction a special musical instrument for collectors and musicians: a German-made marching flute (fife), made by the famous Richard Keilwerth (RK) workshop.
This model is an authentic "Spielmannsflöte", traditionally used in German "Fife and Drum" type brass bands. The instrument is marked with the original logo (the initials RK inscribed in a globe) and the inscription "Rich. Keilwerth - Ges. Geschützt".
Technical Details & Condition:
Manufacturer: Richard Keilwerth (Germany).
Material: Body made of high-density precious wood (probably Grenadilla/African Blackwood), offering a clear and penetrating sound.
Finishes: Original brass ferrules, well preserved.
Tuning: Clear marking "Ce" (C flat), specific for traditional marching music.
Configuration: 6-hole model, without keys (keyless), maintaining the minimalist and robust design. It has a finger rest carved entirely in wood for increased ergonomics.
Tuning head: Equipped with a metal mechanism (crown) for fine tuning of the intonation.
Condition: Excellent. The wood does not show cracks, splits or repairs. The instrument has been very well maintained, preserving its structural and aesthetic integrity.
Richard Keilwerth is part of a legendary dynasty of German luthiers. Unlike modern plastic variants, this wooden instrument represents a piece of artisanal craftsmanship, being ideal both for historical interpretation and as a showcase piece in a collection of wind instruments
