Descrizione del venditore

Carl Linnaeus - Flora Svecica
1st rare edition 1745.

This is the first full account of the plants growing in Sweden and one of the first examples of the Flora in the modern idiom.

Flora Svecica is Scientific work of the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778).
Represents an overview of the plant world
Sweden and is the first "flora" for this state in the modern sense of the term. The information about the plants in the book is grouped according to the reproductive system
Classification based on the structure of generative organs and developed by the author himself, while "Swedish Flora" has both the features of the determinant, since the names of the divisions of the system are placed in the headers of the pages!

The publication of this book dates back to the period of Linnaeus's life, when he headed the Department of Botany at Uppsala University, taught botany, theoretical medicine and natural history, and directed the university botanical garden.
This was a period of his "absolutely astonishing" scientific productivity.

Two editions have been published.
The first one was realised in Stockholm in summer 1745: Sumtu & letteris Laurentii Salvii and in August of the same 1745 year in Leiden: Lugduni batavorum : Apud Conradum Wishoff & Georg. Jac. Wishoff fil Com
