Descrizione del venditore

Magnificent antique Russian cigarette case in solid silver 875 (84 zolotniki standard), dating to the late Imperial Russian period, circa 1908-1917.

A highly decorative and sculptural piece, featuring an impressive high-relief composition of two eagles in combat with exceptional feather detailing and dynamic movement, executed in true Russian Art Nouveau / early modern style.

The case is further enhanced by a beautiful blue cabochon push button, mounted in silver, used to open the case. The deep cobalt blue stone gives the object an elegant aristocratic character typical of luxury Russian smoking accessories from the early 20th century.

The interior is completely gilded (vermeil / silver gilt) and remains remarkably well preserved, with its original elastic cigarette holders still present inside. The rich gold interior creates a striking contrast with the silver exterior and reflects the high quality of manufacture.

Hallmarks:

* Russian silver hallmark 875
* Additional maker / assay marks present
* Marks consistent with Russian production between 1908 and 1917

Engraving:
The front bears a hand-engraved dedication in Cyrillic, dated:
“19/VIII-50”
(19 August 1950)
which adds historical charm and personal provenance to the object.

Dimensions:

* 18 × 10 cm
* Thickness: approx. 1 cm

Weight:

* 190 grams

Condition:
Very good antique condition overall.
Beautiful natural patina.
Minor signs of age and use consistent with period.
The gilded interior is exceptionally well preserved.
Opening mechanism works correctly.
No major dents or structural damage observed.

This is an important collector’s piece, ideal for:

* Russian silver collectors
* Imperial Russian antiques
* Tobacciana collections
* Art Nouveau decorative arts
* Luxury smoking accessories
* Soviet / post-Imperial historical memorabilia

A rare and visually impressive object combining sculptural artistry, fine silverwork, historical character, and excellent display presence.
