Descrizione del venditore
Mint Mid-Century Vietnamese Biên Hòa Stoneware Vase – Hand-Carved Lotus – 1976-1985 – H: 29 cm
An authentic Vietnamese art pottery stoneware vase (grès) originating from the historic ceramic cooperatives of Biên Hòa (Vietnam), dating precisely to the post-reunification export era between 1976 and 1985. This finely crafted vessel showcases the region's celebrated studio tradition, blending traditional Asian iconography with a bold, mid-century artisanal aesthetic.
The vase features a robust ovoid body, a thick rolled collar rim, and decorative raised slip dots on the shoulder flanked by two stylized molded ring handles. The main body is masterfully decorated using the sgraffito technique; deep, hand-incised contours frame a beautiful, high-relief pattern of stylized white lotus blossoms and sweeping copper-green foliage against an earthy, matte beige background.
The unglazed base bears incised markings from the workshop system: the regional/guild designation "B-T" (Biên Hòa - Thành Phố) and the specific artisan/decorator's initials "PD", denoting its unique handcrafted origin rather than mass industrial production.
A striking, highly decorative example of Southeast Asian studio pottery that beautifully complements Mid-Century Modern, Eclectic, or Asian-inspired interiors.
